StockXpert is ceasing regular operations

It was in the air… StockXpert is going to close. Here a short summary of the last Getty Images actions in the micro/RF field that are intended to drive traffic, buyers and contributors to the strongest microstock brand, iStockphoto:

  • stock.xchng promotes iStockphoto collection as result of the searches (no longer StockXpert)
  • The Photos.com and JIUnlimited licensing program was canceled from the StockXpert contribution
  • StockXpert has been encouraging to become an iStock contributor
  • The new subscription site ThinkStock is focalized on Getty and iStock imagery

Microstock il nuovo Royalty Free – Lookstat

Microstock is the new RF

iSyndica past, present & future – guest post

iSyndica past, present & future

I’m very glad to publish a guest post written by Hugo Angelmar from iSyndica, “the man you want to complain to if something’s not working”  :-)

###

2009 has been a fun year for iSyndica. Think of it as jumping into the pool at 6 in the morning during the Winter. It’s -20 degrees outside and still dark. You don’t stay still for long and quickly start swimming because everything around tells you to.

We’ve moved from doing just photography, to recently introducing audio, our now fourth category. An interesting anecdote is that, unlike previous categories, we’ve had people inquire about audio – both users and agencies – before launching it. This was something to cheer about. People are taking notice of what we are building and how it can apply to a range of content – ringtones, virtual gifts, ads, ebooks etc. But our hearts remain with visual content, and we’ve been busy improving iSyndica’s features with the introduction of custom watermarks and enabling metadata export. A lot of work was also done behind the scene by our great team. Going from 10 users to a few thousands is not an easy task, and it’s certainly required updates to our platform.

Microstock earnings comparison January 2010

The begin of the year has seen a strong stop in sales… the overall monthly statistic was decent due to a great affiliation incomes coming from a 123RF’s buyer.  Here my classic six months earning comparison chart:

Microstock earnings graph - January 10

Microstock earnings graph - January 10 - Click to Zoom Out

  • really bad selling, a jump back of 1 year and a half
  • iStockphoto is the only agency that improves the performance
  • great affiliation performance of 123RF

  • monthly overall RPI (total earnings / average portfolio size) is about 0.3, it was 0.6 on December… it’s not useful to post the full table data
