The EyeEm Awards were celebrated with a two day Festival earlier in September. The mobile image sharing community honored a 15 year old Belgian photographer for his stunning portrait photography with the overall “Photographer of the Year” award.
EyeEm had announced their first Award celebration in spring, and more than 100,000 images from 15,000 photographers in over 150 countries were submitted in ten categories. A short list of 100 images had been published in August. Now the most important award has been given to a Belgian teenage who captures stunning portraits of himself and others. David Uzochukwu's portfolio website is full of examples showing his amazing talent in creating emotional images in beautiful light. The self-acclaimed “Nutella addict” won himself a travel to the EyeEm Festival where he could present his work to a broad audience.
The EyeEm Award winners were selected by juries filled with renowned photographers, image editors and designers from around the world. The Festival held in Berlin showed the short listed images in a large gallery of prints. The exhibition is now bound to be traveling the world, showing the images to thousands of photo enthusiasts in several countries.
