Four Workshops, Four Cities, Two Continents – Exclusive Pan-European Photography workshops mark unique creative and commercial partnership

November 8th 2012 – Announcing the acquisition of Cultura Creative by Image Source, the new company needed no bigger statement of intent than a series of customized, photographer-centered workshops delivered in four major cities across the globe.

Top professional photographers in London, Copenhagen, Munich and New York were briefed by new Group Chief Operating officer Anthony Harris, Group Creative Director Ashley Jouhar, and Art Directors from what is now the largest, independent, creative team in the photo industry. “These workshops offer photographers the very latest guidance on current, best-selling imagery,” said Harris, “and the kinds of imagery and markets that our research suggests that photographers should be looking to address. Our bespoke, hands-on, photographer-centric approach underlines our commitment to shooters in the premium high-end space.”

As a sign of the company’s open, inclusive and fresh approach, top professional photographers – both signed and unsigned – were invited to participate in the Workshops. “We are also deeply committed to fostering new talent,” said Ashley Jouhar. To that end, the company will not only be investing in and working with the best photographers, but is dedicated to encouraging lesser-known rising stars.
The invitation-only Workshops address hot-button, on-trend issues essential for the professionally-alert photographer: the current 5 key elements to creating successful, on-trend stock photography; Image licensing opportunities during times of technological and economic change; Speakers such as Sophie Batterbury, Picture Editor of London’s Independent on Sunday newspaper, give client-side perspective; how the new merger helps photographers build and grow revenues from global stock sales.
The Workshops benefit from the client-focused experience of Group Creative Director Ashley Jouhar, including spells on the agency side as Senior Art Director and Creative Group Head in McCann Erickson's London office, and on the industry side as Deputy Director of Photography at Getty Images. Ashley commented, “There is a sweet spot of creative excellence and commercial insight that we work with photographers to achieve“. The photographer community has responded with an unprecedented number of new photographer signings in October, and increased and refreshed dialogue with existing photographers.

Previously, the bi-annual Cultura Creative Workshops contributed significantly to the company’s phenomenal growth record over five years. Future workshops planned for next year include Los Angeles and Shanghai, reflecting both the newly merged Company’s global reach in distribution and sales, and its desire to cross-pollinate creativity. Anthony Harris commented, “There is real opportunity for skilled, professional photographers who are clearly briefed on client, creative, and market needs“.

Please contact creative@imagesource.com if you would like to get on our waiting list for the next workshops.
