With Dropstock.io, a new tool for distributing images across agencies has been published. It uses the Dropbox capabilities of storing and sharing images and uploads them through the agency’s FTP servers. In a rather swift move, 500px has announced a drastic change in their licensing and royalty payouts of their ‘Marketplace’ (formerly ‘Prime’). The cut is more than half from 70 to 30 per cent of the licensing fees, at least for non-exclusive images. Earlier this year, the announcement that the once mighty Corbis agency will be acquired by the Chinese company VCG, now comes with deadlines: Corbis’ microstock subsidiary Veer has just announced their closure effective March 30. Customers are being transferred with their remaining credits or a subscription to Getty’s subsidiary iStock as part of a deal the leading agency has made with Visual China Group. The leading microstock agency Shutterstock has announced changes to their initial review process. Going forward, out of the ten images that need to be submitted during the application process, only one has to get accepted to be admitted to the contributor base of the market leader. After Adobe Stock was launched mid year with some early success, their agency subsidiary Fotolia now announced the long awaited addition of video content into that offer. With Adobe Stock, the software giant integrated the image content sourced through its recently acquired subsidiary Fotolia into their widely used Photoshop and Illustrator products. According to the announcement, all motion content in HD size will be available within the Library module of video editing software Premiere and AfterEffects after this change.
