Pixmac chooses iSyndica as an exclusive upload platform for pictures

pixmac logo badgeFrom the beginning the people at Pixmac are putting their energy to build a great stock photo site. They’re bringing new ideas, searching for optimal settings, changing minds and adding features to meet the customer requirements. We all at Pixmac just love fresh air!

Leap forward

Now comes a time for another leap forward at Pixmac. It might be controversial, but believe us, that this is the future of microstock. Let’s get things straight. We’re all here to do a profitable business or at least profitable hobby.
Pixmac made a deep research and came up with an idea, that if we really want to satisfy contributors and content suppliers we need to have the best tool for the customers. Well, and that’s what we’re doing.

Why iSyndica?

isyndica logoWe’ve chosen iSyndica as an exclusive partner for photographers and illustrators coming to Pixmac because we’re sure that they’re doing great job in upload.

Lock-in is a history

In accordance with our target of being fair and open company. We’re now removing the lock-in time at Pixmac. It was 12 months, now it’s 0 months. We know that it was a pain for some of you and that’s why we’re changing the condition.

One site for sales. One for upload.

Pixmac is going to be the best platform for people that need to buy photos and illustrations. We’re going to make anything possible to save their time by doing a great site. iSyndica is a platform to do the other part of the job. The upload and management for photographers. Both Pixmac and iSyndica use Amazon Web Services for hosting the files, so the communication between is a breeze.
For the contributors, it’s even easier. A contributor get’s one platform to deal with, so he or she actually doesn’t need to visit multiple sites to check sales, manage and upload new content.

Other agencies want exclusivity. Why not Pixmac?

Microstock is still under heavy changes. Since 2001 the traditional stock is suffering with that and the microstock itself is growing steadily. But that’s not the end. We believe that in the end, there will be no place for exclusive contributor-seller partnership. Everything will be much or less similar to traditional way of selling photos. So as Vitezslav Valka, Pixmac’s CEO says: “In the end, everybody will be selling everything.
Exclusivity is good for the agencies. But usually not for the contributor. The world is big enough to handle multiple stock photo sites. And contributors that lock their images to one agency just cut off their sales.

How that works?

For new contributors we’re regularly checking iSyndica database for the contributors with more than 50 images interested in Pixmac. If there is an author that has selling potential for Pixmac, we’re going to sell his/her imagery with a single click. Selling potential is based on current sales or overall quality of portfolio.

The regular approval process is gone?

Yes. This is the end of per-image approval. That’s the old way. We believe that there are good and not so good photographers and illustrators. And even if there are good photographers with some images that might be misunderstood by the person who approves the images, those might be bestsellers in the future.
We’re going to improve Pixmac search to perfection. So our search engine will check every photo and illustration for multiple data in time. That’s analyzed, and later there will be only great photos on the first pages. Same feature as Google is doing with hypertext. It’s a kind of self learning mechanism that will offer the right images to the right user.

I’m Pixmac contributor already. What happens?

Current users will remain in the same situation as they were. For the future, we’re going to optimize the process even for current contributors. So if you’re Pixmac’s contributor already be ready for some fresh news to come.

Tell us what you think. Pixmac is flexible!

Well, Pixmac will be always listening to users’ needs. So if there is anything that may be answered by our crew, just put a note here or let us know by email or customer support. We’re listening and always looking for solutions.
