Photocase Search Update: similar photos, sort function, mouse-over preview

Berlin, Germany, Mar. 1, 2010. Photocase CEO Frank Erler announced today that Photocase upgraded their search engine in a move that will improve search efficiency and relevancy.

“Photocase has always had a great search engine, and this update improves upon the already great system. We’ve added some great new features like Similar Photos, and improved our search results to include a new sort function. Buyers can now get better search results and then use our new Similar Photos button to brainstorm by viewing similar and related photos.”

How a photo performs (rated by a combination of views, clicks, faves, comments and downloads) will now have a direct effect on our new Sort function, which gives users the ability to sort user searches by Relevance, Date and Interestingness. The Similar Photos system is also a big improvement. When a user searches for a photo and finds a great one and wants to see more like it, they can simply click the = icon below the image and they will instantly be presented with a selection of similar photos.

 In addition to the search updates, the Photo Detail page has been reworked based on suggestions and comments made by our buyers. The page now is easier to use and to navigate and will make it easier for buyers to download that perfect Photocase photo.

Also added is a mouse-over preview, where users can simply move their cursor over the thumbnail in the search results page to see a larger version of the photo.
