Microstock earnings comparison December and 2009 summury
December was my Best Month Ever although there was the expected slow down for the Holidays. You can see this behavior from the iSyndica number of downloads chart
Here my classic six months earning comparison chart:
- good Fotolia performance
- one enhanced license sold at Dreamstime pimp up the month
- monthly overall RPI (total earnings / average portfolio size) is stable (about 0,6)
| agency | earnings | dwloads | portf.size | RPI (*) | RPD (*) |
| dreamstime | 44,6 | 13 | 191 | 0,23 | 3,43 |
| shutterstock | 21,2 | 50 | 175 | 0,12 | 0,42 |
| fotolia | 38,8 | 34 | 223 | 0,17 | 1,14 |
| istockphoto | 4,7 | 6 | 73 | 0,06 | 0,78 |
| stockxpert | 8,2 | 16 | 226 | 0,04 | 0,51 |
| 123rf | 6,2 | 8 | 259 | 0,02 | 0,77 |
| bigstockphoto | 4,5 | 5 | 292 | 0,02 | 0,90 |
(*) RPI = return per image = “earnings in $” / “portfolio size”
RPD = revenue per download = “earnings in $” / “number of downloads”
Now I will show you three graphs representing the 2009 summary of my microstock.
The first is the total monthly earnings (without affiliation). The portfolio sizes also was increased but I haven’t done massive uploads, ie the Fotolia portfolio size increased from 155 to 223 images.

The second is the monthly total number of downloads

Last graph is the percentage sharing of earnings for agency. You can see that my best agency of 2009 was Fotolia, then a similar result for Shutterstock and Dreamstime.
