New York, NY (PRWEB) March 4, 2010 — Bigstock, one of the world’s leading online royalty-free stock image agencies, announced today the launch of its eagerly anticipated website overhaul, www.bigstock.com, built to provide the best online experience for buyers looking to purchase high quality stock images via affordable credit-based payment options.
The site, designed in collaboration with Shutterstock, the world’s largest subscription-based stock photo company, reflects the company’s deep knowledge of the global stock image marketplace, and its commitment to expand Bigstock’s global presence after acquiring the company last year.
In addition to its sleek new interface, the site boasts a full spectrum of functions to improve user experience, including advanced search capabilities, more intuitive navigation, larger image previews and thumbnails, and improved tools for contributors. Bigstock also launched a new blog dedicated to covering company news, as well as updates from buyers, contributors and guest bloggers.
“We kept the customer in mind at every step of this redesign,” said Jon Oringer, CEO of Bigstock. “These upgrades to Bigstock, along with our proven payment and licensing models, will help image buyers get the right image fast and ensure the continued success of our contributors.“
An important feature of the site is its vastly improved search engine, which has been enhanced to provide the perfect balance of quality, relevance, popularity and freshness in search results. The engine’s specialized search algorithm will enable buyers to quickly and simply find the perfect stock photo, vector or illustration for their needs.

Following the already published Press Release Polylooks deploys iSyndica service to provide new opportunities for microstock photographers, Norbert Weber, Head of Polylooks, has just written an article on iSyndica blog Polylooks Brings European Look & Feel to Microstock
Here some excerpts:
iSyndica has teamed up with online photo agency Polylooks, meaning that microstock photographers can further expand the reach of their images to include Polylooks’ growing customer base.
As a European stock image provider with predominantly European photo and illustration contributors, we believe we bring a much-needed European look-and-feel to the microstock market which has traditionally been dominated by North American image sites. This offers European stock photo and illustration buyers far more choice and relevance when searching for microstock imagery and we’ve now got more than half a million images on our database.
We see microstock becoming more and more central to publishing going forward. Our survey found that in the UK marketing sector alone, 44 per cent of professionals legally download between one and five pictures each month, while seven per cent buy more than 11 stock images each month. In fact, while nearly half (48 per cent) do not have a microstock image budget, five per cent spend in excess of £100 each month on images, so there is huge demand out there.
Currently, Polylooks operates in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the United Kingdom and the platform is available in German and English, but the partnership with iSyndica will enable Polylooks to draw on an extended pool of creative talent by reaching contributors in new territories.

Berlin, Germany, Mar. 1, 2010. Photocase CEO Frank Erler announced today that Photocase upgraded their search engine in a move that will improve search efficiency and relevancy. “Photocase has always had a great search engine, and this update improves upon the already great system. We’ve added some great new features like Similar Photos, and improved our search results to include a new sort function. Buyers can now get better search results and then use our new Similar Photos button to brainstorm by viewing similar and related photos.”
How a photo performs (rated by a combination of views, clicks, faves, comments and downloads) will now have a direct effect on our new Sort function, which gives users the ability to sort user searches by Relevance, Date and Interestingness. The Similar Photos system is also a big improvement. When a user searches for a photo and finds a great one and wants to see more like it, they can simply click the = icon below the image and they will instantly be presented with a selection of similar photos. In addition to the search updates, the Photo Detail page has been reworked based on suggestions and comments made by our buyers. The page now is easier to use and to navigate and will make it easier for buyers to download that perfect Photocase photo.
